DRT-DRG Series Mechanically Operated/Rotary Type Directional Valves

The DRT-DRG Series is a range of mechanically operated rotary directional valves manufactured by YUKEN (a leading hydraulic component manufacturer), primarily designed for pilot circuit control in hydraulic systems. These valves offer reliable directional control through a rotary spool mechanism, available in two main configurations: DRT (threaded connection) and DRG (sub-plate mounting).

Core Function & Operation

These valves control the direction of hydraulic oil flow by rotating the spool either manually or via a cam mechanism. A key feature is the detented mechanism (typically steel ball positioning) that securely holds the spool in selected positions, preventing accidental shifting due to vibration or shock.

Design & Construction Features

  • Rotary Spool Design: Enables smooth, precise flow direction changes with minimal operating force
  • Robust Construction: High-quality materials (steel/aluminum alloy) ensure durability and long service life
  • Leakage Prevention: Internal sealing design minimizes oil leakage
  • Versatile Operation: Compatible with both manual operation (hand lever/knob) and mechanical actuation (cam, roller, or lever)
  • Easy Maintenance: Modular design allows for straightforward disassembly and spool replacement

Typical Applications

  1. Pilot Circuit Control: Primary use for shifting main control valves in hydraulic systems
  2. Mobile Hydraulics: Agricultural machinery, construction equipment, material handling vehicles
  3. Industrial Hydraulics: Machine tools, presses, plastic injection molding machines, packaging equipment
  4. Cam-Operated Systems: Automated machinery requiring sequential operation based on mechanical cam positioning
  5. Low-Pressure Systems: Ideal for applications with operating pressures up to 7 MPa

  • D: Directional valve
  • RT: Rotary type, Threaded connection (RG = Rotary type, Sub-plate mounting)
  • 03: Port size (3/8″)
  • 3C2: Spool type (3-position, C-type center, 2-way)
  • 01: Detent option (spring return)

Installation & Usage Notes

  1. Mounting: Ensure proper alignment and torque when installing threaded (DRT) or sub-plate (DRG) valves
  2. Fluid Compatibility: Use clean hydraulic oil with viscosity between 15-400 cSt
  3. Drain Connection: Always connect the drain port to the tank for proper operation
  4. Operating Temperature: -10°C to +70°C (14°F to 158°F)
  5. Maintenance: Regularly check for leaks and contamination; replace seals as needed
The DRT-DRG Series combines simplicity, reliability, and versatility, making it a cost-effective solution for directional control in various hydraulic applications requiring mechanical operation.
