Casappa KP40 (KAPPA 40) High Pressure Cast Iron Gear Pump

Casappa KP40 (KAPPA 40) High Pressure Ductile Iron Gear Pump

KP40 Plus is heavy-duty version with ductile iron housing. Through-shaft design for multi-section pump combinations. Side or rear port options; SAE / European standard flanges available. Units: cc/rev = cm³/r; bar; rpm. Continuous pressure = long-term allowable working pressure; Peak pressure = short-time shock pressure, NOT for continuous operation.

1. Pressure & Speed for each displacement

Model Displacement cc/rev Continuous Pressure bar Peak Pressure bar Max Speed rpm Min Continuous Speed rpm
KP40.63 61.43 260 300 2800 300
KP40.73 72.60 260 300 2800 300
KP40.87 86.56 260 300 2800 300
KP40.100 99.79 260 300 2700 300
KP40.109 108.90 260 300 2700 300
KP40.121 121.80 260 300 2700 300
KP40.133 134.03 250 290 2700 300
KP40.151 150.79 240 280 2700 300
KP40.160 160.77 230 270 2500 300
KP40.180 180.73 230 270 2200 300

Note: KP40 Plus is the reinforced heavy-duty variant with ductile iron housing, higher impact resistance for heavy-duty mobile machinery main hydraulic circuits. Larger displacements have slightly reduced continuous pressure rating.

2. General Mechanical & Hydraulic Specifications

  1. Housing Material: Ductile cast iron (KP40 Plus, two-piece construction)
  2. Bearings: Pressure-compensated sliding thrust bearings for sustained high volumetric efficiency under heavy loads
  3. Rotation: Standard clockwise (viewed from drive end); counter-clockwise available on request, specify in order code
  4. Drive Shaft Options
    • Parallel key shaft
    • 1:8 taper shaft
    • SAE splined shaft (optional)
  5. Mounting Flange: 4-hole European standard flange; SAE flange optional
  6. Port Arrangement: Side outlet (L series) or rear outlet (R series); flange type ports
  7. Multi-pump capability: Through-shaft design. KP40 can be cascaded with KP20 / KP30 / KP40 to form multi-section pumps.

Fluid, Temperature & Contamination

  • Recommended hydraulic fluid: Mineral hydraulic oil ISO VG32 / VG46
  • Operating temperature: -20℃ ~ +80℃; short-time peak up to 90℃
  • Recommended viscosity during operation: 15~100 mm²/s; max 500 mm²/s allowed for cold start
  • Fluid cleanliness: ISO 4406 18/15 or better. Inlet filter ≥100μm recommended; pressure line filter 10μm
  • Seals: NBR nitrile rubber (standard). FKM fluorocarbon seals optional for high temperature / fire-resistant fluids (special order)

Typical Efficiency Values (at 150 bar, 2000 rpm, VG46 @50℃)

  • Volumetric efficiency: ≥90%
  • Overall efficiency: 82%~86% (depends on displacement, pressure and speed)

3. Outline Weight Reference (standard flange, side ports, parallel key version)

Model Weight (kg)
KP40.63 ~ KP40.87 approx.10.2~11.0 kg
KP40.100 ~ KP40.133 approx.11.2~12.2 kg
KP40.151 ~ KP40.180 approx.12.5~13.5 kg

Weight varies slightly with port and shaft configuration. Exact outline & mounting dimensions refer to original manufacturer drawings.

4. Model Code Explanation (Example: KP40.63D0-82E2-LEB/EA-N)

  • KP: KAPPA gear pump
  • 40: Group 40
  • 63: Nominal displacement 61.43 cc/rev
  • D0: Flange code (4-hole European flange)
  • 82E2: Shaft code, parallel key shaft
  • LEB/EA: Port code, side ports, inlet / outlet port size
  • N: Rotation code: clockwise (viewed from drive end)

5. Important Selection Notes

  1. Peak pressure applies only for short-duration shock, cannot run continuously. Design system based on continuous pressure for sizing.
  2. Do NOT operate at maximum speed together with maximum continuous pressure simultaneously; derating required otherwise service life reduces drastically.
  3. Suction condition: Vacuum at inlet should not be worse than -0.05 bar to avoid cavitation. Suction piping should be short and large bore.
